Meet LaTonya Allen

I am LaTonya Allen. I lost my part-time job in May of 2008. After several months of not being able to find employment, I reluctantly went to the Midtown CDC/DHS office to apply for TANF Services. I was reluctant because I felt that applying for services meant that I was giving up on my quest for employment. I had no idea what was in store for me.

I signed up for the job training classes which started the following week. I gained so much during the next seven months. I learned skills on how to focus my frustrations into useful activities to produce positive outcomes, how to produce the proper resume to gain employment and how to use time management to stay organized. The staff at Midtown not only changed my life, they taught me the steps to take to maintain the positive direction that my life has taken. You see...in october 2008, I walked into Midtown CDC/DHS as a client and thanks to the encouraging and supportive staff of Midtown, on April 13, 2009 I walked into Midtown CDC/DHS as a State Employee. I am the newest (and only) Eligibility Worker at North Midtown CDC/DHS.
