In 1996, North Midtown Community Development Corporation (NMCDC) and the Department of Human Services (DHS) formed a partnership to bring a more personal dimension to servicing welfare participants.
This satellite DHS office has become a one-stop center for the delivery of public services - food stamp benefits, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), health and mental health referral services, substance abuse referral services. A fresh start has been provided for hundreds who have a desire to be removed from the role of public assistance and to become self-sufficient.
This office provide components such as:
- Economic Assistance
- The Education Center
- The Work Ready (JRA) program and Job Placement Services
- Life Skills School

The office hours are: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. The office number is 601-355-5536. Walk-ins are welcome daily from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm, except for Wednesday.
